Where surgery is being considered, Dr Mercer will explain the available options, expected outcome, limitations, recovery and relevant risks before any decision is made.

There is no expectation to proceed during the first consultation.

Once surgery is planned, the clinic will provide a clear timeline covering any required investigations, pre-operative assessment, consent documentation, payment deadlines and the confirmed surgery date.

Patients should allow additional planning time where recovery will affect work, childcare, travel or other responsibilities.

Every procedure is planned individually rather than according to a standard template.

Pre-operative appointments may include clinical photography, measurements, review of previous surgery or imaging where relevant, and discussion of incision placement, scars, recovery and expected changes.

For combined procedures, the overall duration of surgery and recovery requirements are considered carefully before a treatment plan is confirmed.

Operations are performed in appropriately equipped London hospital facilities with experienced theatre staff and a consultant anaesthetist where general anaesthesia or sedation is required.

The anaesthetic plan is reviewed before surgery and adapted to the procedure, medical history and individual patient requirements.

Depending on the operation, patients may return home the same day or remain in hospital overnight.

Before surgery, patients receive procedure-specific preparation instructions covering medication, smoking and nicotine, eating and drinking, clothing, transport and practical arrangements for the first days of recovery.
